The heart of Dalmatia and the main attraction of Split is Diocletian’s Palace, inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Its former corridors and chambers are now extremely atmospheric streets and squares in the city centre.
Only 10 minutes from city centre is the famous sandy beach Bačvice which has a shallow sea depth. It makes the beach perfect for families with children.
Croatian cuisine is very diverse, we find in it the influences of Italy, France and even Austria. If you like fish and seafood, then Split is the perfect place to taste it. The famous black squid risotto is a must-try.
Being in Split, it is worth renting a car and exploring the surroundings. Only 5 km southeast of Split is one of the most important historical monuments in Croatia – the Klis Fortress (concerts are held here in summer).
Active vacation enthusiasts should go to the nearby town of Omiš, near which there is a picturesque canyon of the Cetina River with waterfalls.
